Limit Hold'em is pretty popular amongst the new and inexperienced and for this reason there is usually some good money to be made playing a tight aggressive game.
If you would like a refresher on what "limit" really implies in particular to the game of Hold'em, this is for you.
This game has a betting limit on each hand which in turn means that when raising a bet made, you can only bet double the bet made. Similarly if you lead out and bet you can only bet the table limit. A different strategy is needed when playing this game as bluffing (especially in low stakes) becomes more difficult because a player can call your bet only at the price of the bet or raise and does not have to worry about committing his whole stack. This is one of the risks that is very much associated with the no-limit game.
Fixed-Limit games will have two limit amounts specified. This could be $2/$4 or $20/$40. Look at the $20/$40 game - the small blind will be $20 and the big blind will be $40. These are the compulsory bets that must be made before play begins. If this was a limit game then bets after the blinds had been met would be $20 and raises would be $40 (maximum)- the only exception in a limit game would be if a player bets $20, the next player raises (to $40) and a third raise occurs- this would then be a raise for twice the bet, now $80.
The rules of the game (excluding betting limits) are as normal Texas Hold'em. If you need a reminder, the structure of the game is set out below.
All players are dealt 2 Hole cards (pre flop) + Round of Betting
