Alligator Blood (Poker)

Alligator blood is the term used to describe a player who goes all out to win and will use every trick in the book (within the rules of the game) to win. This is similar to a player that has a lot of fight or that their thick skinned. They don't let things get them down and keep fighting all the way. These players don't give up, lose heart or lose their cool. They do what needs to be done to give themselves every chance of winning. It is this mentality that is often associated with the top poker players.

In the context of a game, the term is meant as a compliment and is a sign of respect. It is seen as an admirable quality and promotes the 'chip and a chair' mentality.
