'Crabs'
Crabs (or Treys) in poker is the term given to the starting hand 3-3, also referred to as pocket 3's.
A question that comes up time and time again is, 'what are the odds of getting dealt a pocket pair in a standard game of Hold'em. The answer is just under 6% and here is how you work it out.
The calculation is actually relatively simple. Let's say you get dealt a 3 and you want to know the chance of you getting dealt one of the remaining three 3's in the deck. Well we know there are four 3's in the deck and 52 cards in the deck. After the first 3 is dealt to you there are 51 cards remaining and three 3's or 3/51. To get the percentage the calculation is (3/51) x 100 = 5.88 or just under 6%.
The odds of getting dealt 3-3 before any cards are dealt is 5.4%, which equates to odds of 17-1.
