Crabs or Pocket 3's
Crabs (or Treys) in poker is the term given to the starting hand 3-3, or pocket 3's.
A question that comes up time and time again is, 'what are the offs of getting dealt a pocket pair in a standard game of Hold'em. The answer is 6% of the time and here is how you work it out.
The calculation is relatively simple. Let's say you get dealt a 3 and you want to know the chance of you getting dealt one of the remaining three 3's in the deck. Well we know there are four 3's in the deck and 52 cards in the deck. After the first 3 is dealt to you there are 51 cards remaining and three 3's or 3/51. To get the percentage the calculation is (3/51) x 100 = 5.88 or just under 6%.
