Making 2 Pair in a Hand of Poker

Two pair is one of the more obviously named poker hands. It is the third worst hand that can be achieved above High Card and a pair and the third most likely hand to hit.

Two pair will consist of two sets of pairs, for example, A A 3 3 . Whilst only marginally better than a pair, flopping two pair can be a very strong position to be in, particularly if you are up against a big ace who has connected with his ace. There is also the possibility that you improve to make a full house, or even quads if the board pairs.

Of course the power of two pair does depend on the board. You should be wary of any scare cards on the board. Remember, any three of the one suit on the board a player may have a flush.
