How to Play Suited Aces Pre Flop (Poker)
Suited Aces pre flop look very appealing to poker players due to the change of hitting an ace high flush! As appealing as this is they should be played with caution. Suited Aces are defined as A-Ts to A-2s. AKs to AJs do not fall into this category as they are defined as big aces.
Very much like small pairs you will find that suited aces tend to be a bit ahead or a long way behind. In Low Limit Hold'em players also love to play any suited ace. The thought of hitting their ace high flush will prove just too much to fold these cards.
Choosing to play this hand could land you in trouble. Up against Big Aces and Pocket Pairs bigger than your kicker will put you a long way behind. Pre Flop your hand will look good to you but you will not know where you stand in the hand until it has cost you. Your strategy pre flop should look to see a cheap flop and hope to make your flush or 2 pair.
Don't commit too much money pre flop to see the flop. If you are faced with 2 raises before the action comes to you, fold. If you were to play 100 of the same hands calling 2 raises and trying to catch your flush or 2 pair, you would be out of money. Don't take my advice for it. The odds say so.
By now you will be getting the picture. When playing all these types of hands that have potential to make a big hand, you should try to make the hand first before you start firing at the pot. This is much more profitable, i can assure you. You are not a favorite to hit your flush, so you shouldn't be betting at the pot like you are. Similarly you will likely get into trouble as in low limit holdem, you will get called with any big cards or even a medium pair. Get in cheap, win big.
So Pre Flop Strategy- Get in cheap and hope to catch your flush or 2 pair. If you miss and the flop doesn't hold 2 suited cards, fold. Play your Suited Aces pre flop slowly as if you don't improve on the flop you will likely loose the pot.
