Rules of Louisiana Low Flop Poker

Louisiana Low Flop is one of the less popular draw variants that exist however it can be a good fun inclusion to a home game. The game will usually have an ante which is posted. Players are then dealt 2 cards face down. All players have the opportunity to now view only one of their two cards, followed by a round of betting.

Next players can then either put the card that they picked up down or stick with the card that they picked up. Where a player puts the card down, this card is discarded. Only where a player discards one of their cards, do they get to see their second card. If they decide to stick with their first card - that's the card that would be played. Another round of betting now, then a showdown. The lack of popularity is largely down to the simplicity of the game. It's pretty much a bluffathon on who has the highest ranked card.

The player with the highest card wins the pot. In the event that 2 or more players have the same card, the winner will be determined by the suit of the card with Spade being the highest rank, then Heart, Diamond and Clubs worst being the lowest. Strangely, this game is classed as a 5 card draw variant - strange with the omission of the draw and the 5 cards as part of the deal.

Whilst you won't find this particular game played online, you can play 5 Card Draw, a few of it's variations (sadly not this one!) as well as over 20 other games! See which games are available and how rooms stack up against each game.
