Pot Limit Tournament Rules
Pot limit Tournaments are not so common online largely due to the popularity of no-limit poker. That said there still are a few sites offering pot limit competitions. One of the main reasons that they are not so common online is that it takes a long time for tournaments to complete as players get knocked out more slowly due to the cap on what a player can bet (the amount of the pot).
However, the principle is just the same. You will still buy in to the tournament for a set amount and you will get a set amount of chips for your buy in. Each player will get the same number of starting chips.
The tournament being pot limit means that after the blinds have met the limit that you can raise any pot has a cap of the size of the pot. If the pot has 1000 chips in it, then you can raise the pot another 1000 chips and similarly if the pot has 50,000 chips in it, you can raise the pot 50,000. The pot always includes any bets previously bet during the hand. Again tournament strategy is fairly different and a revised approach is required to play pot limit tournaments and win.
