Sunday Million 12th Anniversary Take 2 - $10M Guaranteed
Posted:March 2018
February saw the Sunday Million 12th Anniversary edition played, which hosted a guaranteed prize pool of $10 Million. Not a bad prize pool for the small buy in of $215. They came close to covering the prize pool with the 43,975 buy ins that day - a far cry from the 6K or so that a standard Sunday Million would attract.
The final table concluded on day 2 with 'oddscompile' busting first for a pretty decent $78,808. After a real final table tussle, a 3-way deal was reached with small stakes player 'Hulk9950' (Brazil) taking down the title and with it a massive $960,000. Not a bad days work. Second place went to 'kapchin' ($707,574) and third a still respectable ($640,000) - we are pretty sure the disappointment of third spot was short lived.
For those that missed out on the action - well PokerStars have announced Sunday Million Anniversary Edition: Take 2! The tournament will again feature a $10 Million Guaranteed prize pool with first place being guaranteed a massive $1,000,000 (yes $1 Million!). What's more the buy in will stay at $215. There will be 3 re-entries available and late registration will be open for 4 hours 30 mins. Plenty of time to avoid what happened in February which saw the first event with a $1.2M over-lay - not a usual sight on the worlds largest poker site!
This will be some welcome PR in the wake of recent unwelcome rake increases and negative PR surrounding their activity in mainstream gambling, which is now on offer. For the poker purist, 22nd April is a date to get into calendar.
Qualifying for the Sunday Million Anniversary
As you would expect, there will be a ton of different ways you can get into the tournament, aside from direct buy-in ($215). There are qualifiers running now for as little as $2.20. There are also special addition Spin and Go tournaments offering tickets to the event.
