Ducks - aka Pair 2's

In Texas Hold'em, the starting hand 2-2 is referred to as 'ducks' or 'deuces', and is the smallest pre flop pair that can be made. That also means that it's more than likely that the hand will need to improve to win the hand. Not only are there 12 better pairs that can be made - we also have to worry about the board outplaying the hand (pairing twice) and only being able to make the worse of any straight.

Should you play the hand? It's certainly playable in the right spots. Whilst the potential is limited, there's always the chance of improving to a set, which carries an 8-1 price tag. The right spot therefore means getting in cheap. If you hit, you're in pole position to take down a nice pot. If you miss, fold to any bet.
