J. C Tran WPT Player of the Year
Posted:May 2007After a very good start on the World Poker Tour, JC Tran has won the World Poker Tour Player of the Year award. He has been on exceptional form and is also being tipped to win Card Player's Player of the Year title having reached 3 final tables in two months. He has finished sixth in the Gold Strike World Poker Open in January and second in the L.A. Poker Classic in February, before winning the World Poker Challenge in March.
To give you an idea of what it takes to top the rankings, you need to finish in the top 7 of a poker tournament in order to receive the necessary points. J.C. Tran's 6th finish that earned him the big points was at the World Poker Open with a $10,000 buy-in cost.
He won $142,810 and 300 player points for his efforts in finishing 6th. Tran also placed 2nd in the LA Poker Classic which was a monumental effort and won a total of $1,177,010 for his efforts along with the 700 points for the event. Only a month later, Tran was back on form and placed 1st at the World Poker Challenge in Reno, Nevada winning just under $700,000 for his efforts and a seat at the WPT World Championship.
J.C. Tran is still currently leading the Card Player Player of the Year award with 4,332 points and looks set to continue the year in excellent fashion.
