First From Betfair – Now APAT Launches Their Own Site

Posted:July 2012

For years, APAT – Amateur Poker Association and Tour has used popular poker websites such as Betfair as well as others to promote their product. Now this association has launched their very own site, although the popular tournament will still be marketed through Betfair Poker, the iPoker Network, Pokerstars, William Hill Poker, and 888 Poker.

This is their first effort into the world of online poker after acquiring Poker.co.uk and they are getting started right away. The APAT has leagues across sites such as Betfair, and even more recently PokerStars, not that PokerStars needs the business. But for amateur poker players, this is a very necessary tour. With the acquisition of Poker.co.uk; Des Duffy – MD of APAT – said these developments mean they will add an online poker room to their range of products, which is very exciting news, although perhaps not for Betfair and the other brands which enjoyed additional traffic through the promotion of the tour.

APAT fans are looking forward to the delivery of a high quality internet poker experience. They already have a casino environment online, and have had since 2006.

Players may download the poker software already, but later on in the year the old Poker.co.uk branding will be gone and new APAT images and table felt will set the scene. According to the press release, both satellites and entry into Live and Online Championship games will be hosted at the site. There is also a National Online League; this will be an interesting, as well as long overdue foray for APAT and its members. As far as the network is concerned, APAT will be part of the International Poker, or BOSS poker Network.

In the past six months this network has lost many of its members due to the licensing segregation of European countries in terms of offering online poker. But perhaps the addition of APAT will help strengthen the presence of the network brand.
