Gus Hansen Named FTP Ambassador

Posted:October 2012

We have been waiting with baited breath to see which poker pros – firstly – who will be willing to act as ambassadors for Full Tilt Poker (FTP), and – secondly – what the re-launched site is going to look like. Looking back, it was Chris “Jesus” Ferguson on the home-page of the old site, however he is no longer allowed to have anything to do with the running of this new PokerStars-operated company - and probably rightly so. Gus HansenThe talk is that Gus Hansen will be the first ambassador to show his face for the besieged online poker room, but that more “international pros” will be brought into the fold very soon. We have a strange suspicion that Viktor Blom might be one however, Hansen will act as the face of FTP according to the press.

This is his second tour of duty with the website as he was an exclusive member of the official FTP team. Some of the first investors in FTP included Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Phil Gordon, Andy Bloch, and as we mentioned before – Chris Ferguson. These players were official pro team members too. Howard Lederer is also no longer allowed to have anything to do with the website; the Feds have even set their sights on sequestering some of his property.

During the early days of FTP, Jennifer Harman, Mike Matusow, John Juanda, Erik Seidel, Clonie Gowen, and Eric Lindgren amongst many others, were also part of the team. Allen Cunningham came along a little later, followed by Patrik Antonius and Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

Gus Hansen’s claim to fame is as being a nose-bleed poker player, and one of the most railed on the site. For many fans, just watching as he, Ivey, Tom Dwan, David Benyamine, Patrik Antonius, and others threw hundreds of thousands of dollars around, became a regular form of entertainment. He enjoys online poker cash games the most, is nicknamed “The Great Dane”, and has enjoyed a good deal of success in live poker tournaments too.
