Online Poker In Spain - Betfair Launches With Playtech

Now that the Spanish online gambling market operates within a legal and regulated framework, more operators are exploring this additional European opportunity. Betfair Poker is a major player in this game, and they have been licking their lips to the prospects of what the Spanish market has to offer. The launch is expected to take place imminently, and there is talk of Betfair entering Italy as a next step. The Italian online poker and gambling marketplace has been regulated for a while – actually they have been in the industry for much longer than Spain has. Betfair believes that Playtech is the logical choice for them in these countries, but then many other Playtech-powered websites feel the same way.

Currently details of the deal between these two online gambling giants are sketchy, and we are not really sure how the site will be set up, but we can rest assured that they will make a good job of it, going on track record. The usual package of games will be available, and judging by Betfairs’ central poker product, this means; both cash games and sit ‘n gos, as well as multi-table tournaments.

We found it a little strange to see that the “fast-fold” form of poker does not yet seem to have been added to the inventory, especially with the success that other operators have had in the game. 

Playtech also recently announced that Everest Poker is to become part of their network. They have set their sights on the French marketplace while quite a few other poker brands have decided to exit France. Attrition in France will obviously be good for the operators who remain behind.
