No More Rakeback on Carbon Poker

Posted:February 2013

A major policy change for online poker players has just been adopted by the popular site Carbon Poker. Going forward there will no longer be a rakeback return offered on the site. The money that the site was giving back to its players through their rakeback program will instead be distributed through their VIP section, which will be welcome news to some.

Carbon PokerIn their announcement explaining the new policy, Carbon Poker said that the change “enables us to offer larger and more beneficial bonuses and utlimately allows for an improved distribution of bonuses to our players.” Carbon Poker continued on with their explanation by adding, “We believe that moving away from rakeback to an improved VIP program is the best way to build and improve the overall poker ecology of our network… We believe wholeheartedly that it is the best option for all our players, and are excited about what is to come.”

Carbon Poker is not the first to make such a move. There are a number of online poker sites which also do not offer rakeback to their members. The problem for Carbon Poker is that many of their players may have been gambling at their site because they liked the rakeback program rewards that the site gave to them. Many players preffered rakeback to the benefits offered by a standard VIP program. But the new VIP rewards, with the addition of the money no longer a part of the rakeback program, is now able to offer Carbon Poker members a better return than they were receiving in the rakeback program.

The overarching question is how will this affect business at Carbon Poker? During peak hours there is over 22,000 players. We will be keeping a watching brief over the next few months to see how this impacts the site.

Carbon Poker currently offers one of the largest online poker bonuses with a 250% up to $5,000 welcoem bonus and the offer of a free poker calculator! Visit now to get started or read our Carbon Poker review.
