PKR to Close Doors - Administration Looms

Posted:May 2017

PKR has announced that it is closing it's doors for financial reasons. Last week a message was displayed to players trying to access PKR that the site was down for maintenance. This lasted almost 24 hours before the message was change to indicate that PKR was to close for financial reasons. Here is a copy of the message that has been displayed:

"Further to earlier announcements, PKR limited and PKR Technologies Ltd have filed applications to Court for Administration orders, which will be heard in the week commencing 8th May 2017.

Further information will be placed on this website following the hearings.

This information will include contact details for players and creditors to address queries and details of the process."

According to a statement from PKR, the companies’ corporate entities, which include PKR Limited and PKR Technologies, had filed “applications”with the Court for Administrative Orders in the United Kingdom. This could be seen as a file for Bankrupcy. The hearing is scheduled to be heard today, 8th May.

PKR has been plagued by low player volumes. Interest in the 3D software was not great for a number of reasons. Firstly the size of the poker client was way above the standard client size, which wouldn't have been of liking to many. Secondly, the distractions on the site were significant and whilst they did provide short term wow factor, it was seen by many as distracting from what players were there to do - play poker.

PKR follows the closure of other big brands such as Ultimatebet and Absolute poker that closed on Black Friday (2011), Everleaf Gaming (2013), Lock Poker (2014), Big Bet Poker (2014), Boss Media (2014), Cake Poker (2014), Equity Poker (2014), Full Flush Poker (2016) and Inter Poker (2016) - to name a few well known brands.

Questions are currently being asked on whether players will get funds back and if so, when. Players enquiring as to their funds are asked to email support@pkr.com for further information.
