Shark (Poker)

A 'shark' in the context of a poker game is a very good and aggressive player who preys on the weak. This type of player will generally win money, which is usually their primary objective.

This skilled player will seek out the best aquariums with a large number of fish and win their chips. As this type of player is a good player, weaker players will not provide a real contest and the shark will end up winning their chips.

Poker uses a range of animals to describe the skill set of a player. A shark we know however there is also the donkey, 'donk' who is a bad player. Fish are the weak player who the sharks feed off of and the eagle (in Play Poker like the Pros) according to Phil Hellmuth is the master of all, soaring high.

A shark is seldom eaten by a fish in the real world and the same goes in poker. A shark will seldom be dominated and is considered a top player.
