'Suited' holdings in Poker
Suited is the term used to describe two hole cards in a game of Hold'em that are of the same suit, for instance 10 J. Suited cards often look a lot more playable as they offer the additional potential to hit a flush, a hand which requires five cards of the same suit.
It's this reason that players often overplay suited cards. Two hole cards being the same suit only adds a couple of additional percent to your chances of winning. Committing a large proportion of your stack chasing cards with suited holdings, isn't a winning strategy.
A hand is often referred to as being suited or for example '10 J suited'. Where the hole cards are the same suit and in sequence they are referred to as 'suited connectors'. These hands present even more potential as they increase the chance that you will hit a straight or a flush (or a straight flush).
