Phil Hellmuth Breaks own WSOP Money Finish Record
Posted:June 2007Phillip J. Hellmuth, Jr. is one of the best (self proclaimed) poker professionals around. The 'Poker Brat' has entertained us at the tables with his outbursts and complaining when the cards go against him (gets bad beats). It is often easy to overlook the achievements of the individual, born July 16th in Madison, Wesconsin.
Phil has been playing poker for decades and is known for by all as a very good no-limit holdem player. To take it a step further, he already holds the record for the most number of WSOP bracelets won by anyone.
In 1987 he won became the youngest ever player to win the WSOP main event by defeating two-time defending champion Johhny Chan in heads up play. Having won over 5 Million in WSOP prize money he sites 7th on the WSOP All Time Money List.
With the 2007 World Series of Poker now complete and having placed 104th place in event # 8, the $2,000 buy in No Limit Hold Em tournament, Phil Hellmuth has guaranteed himself yet another accolade being the player to have made it to the money the most times in WSOP history. He took the title of a very good Holdem player, yes you guessed it, Phil Hellmuth.
This record breaking 58th time he has made the money will no-doubt make the bad beats harder to take. Whilst I am sure the 'poker brat' will live up to his name in the future, another record in the bag, he deserves some respect in making this achievement.
