Mike Sexton donates $500,000 to charity
Posted:July 2006Following a win in the WSOP tournament of Champions, Mike Seton has decided to give half of his prize money to charity. In an unbelievable act of charity Mike will be giving away the huge sum of Half a Million Dollars, yes $500,000!
The money is to be given to 5 different charities including the Special Olympics, The Buoniconti Fund to help cure paralysis, the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Wounded Warrior Project that helps families of those wounded or killed in battle, and Children Incorporated, the charity of choice for Barry Greenstein that provides food and school supplies for underprivileged children around the world.
Following Mike Sextons decision to give to charity, there has now been talk about poker professionals potentially following suit and much like professionals in the PGA, they would donate a percentage of their winnings to charity. Asked to comment on this Mike replied "The PGA model is perfect. The poker industry would do well to learn from this tried-and-true business model."
