007 Does Online Poker – Bond Can’t Be Bothered With Baccarat

Baccarat is a classic casino game, it is played at many online and live casinos, and its claim to fame is that simple as this game is, it attracts the rich and famous. Notorious gamblers such as the late Terry Packer played Baccarat, and this is the game Robert Redford played in the movie Indecent Proposal. Its other claim to fame is that it is the chosen casino game of 007 Bond…James Bond. Or it was until he discovered online poker.

While it is not unusual to find sporting and other celebrities lending their name to online poker – for example Rafael Nadal and PokerStars, we were rather surprised to see that Pierce Brosnan (aka 007 once or twice removed) has hooked up with Lottomatica Group. This Italian online gambling brand is specifically promoting poker with the new ad for the Rome, Italy-based gambling group. The advertisement is very classy indeed, and portrays Brosnan in a ‘Bond-like’ role with a rather glamorous young lady as his co-star. You can check out this spy-themed commercial on Adland TV.

As well as online poker, the company provides both traditional and online lotteries, sports-betting and other gambling activities in legal market places all over the world. Through a subsidiary they have also been one of the International companies to apply for a gaming license in Nevada; as Nevada gears itself up to get poker legally online.

For the time being online gambling in Nevada will be restricted to poker, but we believe it is only a matter of time until things will change. One of the main reasons that states in the USA are voting for approval for this industry is the fact that it will generate much-needed tax revenue. While initially poker on an intrastate (internal) level will only be allowed, any foot in the door for external USA players is the name of the game. They basically just want a look in at a marketplace that could have massive money-making potential.
