Posted:August 2013

Poker Stars has announced the schedule for the 2013 World Championship of Online Poker (the WCOOP.) The tournaments will all be played in September and the total prize money is $40 Million. Poker Stars has scheduled 66 tournaments for this year, which is more than were played at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Of course the beauty of this online series is that you can take part in these events from the comfort of your home.

WCOOP 2013The 2013 WCOOP Main Event will begin on September 29 and has a guaranteed prize pool of $8,000,000. That is an increase of 60% over the 2012 Main Event. The winner of this year's tournament is guaranteed $1,250,000.

The buy-in for the Main Event is $5,200. There are three “High-Roller” Events at this year's WCOOP that have even higher buy-ins. The first of these will be played on September 15. The second one will be held on September 22 and will feature a “Heads Up” format. The third one will be played on September 29 and will have an “8-Game” format. This event will determine the identity of the best all-around online poker player in 2013. All three of these High Roller tournaments have buy-ins of $10,300.

If you don't want to spend that much money to enter a WCOOP event, there are plenty of other tournaments on the menu with much lower entrance fees, including the year's first World Championship Of Online Poker event on September 6. It is the “WCOOP Kickoff,” which has a buy-in of $109, the lowest of any of the 66 tournaments. Even with the more affordable buy-in, the WCOOP Kickoff still offers $500,000 in guaranteed prize money.

This years WCOOP has $40 Million being given away!Almost every type of format will be played at this years WCOOP, including Shootout, Turbo, Knockout, Rebuy and Add-on. There are also tournaments for different poker variations. These include several Omaha events, including Courcheval, the five-card Omaha game just recently added to the menu at Poker Stars. There will also be a Razz tournament, a Badugi tournament as well as both single and triple draw Lowball 2-7 events.

Poker Stars will also keep a Leaderboard for the 2013 WCOOP and will award some very large prizes to the top players in the standings. These include entry tickets to several upcoming major events being conducted by Poker Stars, including the Main Event in the 2014 WCOOP.
