New European Harah's World Series of Poker
Posted:February 2007In February of this year the poker world heard some welcome news from Harrah's Entertainment. Plans have been agreed for Harrah's to launch a new World Series of Poker in Europe (WSOPE). Plans are set to add three events (over 10 days) to the poker calendar, compared to the 55 the WSOP in Las Vegas, which is expected to start in September at the London Club's International Casino.
The WSOP Europe will open with a three-day, £2,500 HORSE event starting on September 6, at The Casino at The Empire, LCI's newest casino in Leicester Square.
The Empire will also be the host casino for a two-day, £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament starting September 8.
On September 10, the WSOP Europe Main Event - a six-day, £10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold'em Championship - will begin at The Empire, The Sportsman and Fifty. The playing field will be consolidated beginning September 13 at The Empire.
The WSOPE main event, which will have a $20,000 buy-in, will begin at three different London casinos--the Fifty Casino, the Sportsman Casino and the Leicester Square Casino.
WSOP bracelets will be awarded to the winners of each event, just like the World Series of Poker in Lad Vegas. "This is the first time bracelet events will be awarded outside of Las Vegas ," said WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack.
