Bird on a Stick - Holdem Poker Hand
People always tend to focus on the best things. Best places to buy pizza, best bars - best poker hand. It's sometimes interesting to know the worst out there, and the reasons why. 'Bird on a stick' refers to the worst hand in Texas Hold'em - statistically that is. This Holdem starting hand is 7-2, otherwise known as a Beer Hand (for obvious reasons). The reason it's the worst is that you cannot make a straight with both your hole cards, in addition to the fact that the odds of winning with this hand are not good. It's this reason that 6-2, 5-2, 4-2 or 3-2 isn't the worst hand. These hands can make straights so there's more cards that can make a winning hand. With 7-2 your pretty much drawing to sevens and twos.
You could also make a straight, but the chances are stacked against you (also if the 2 plays, you won't be confident that a player doesn't have a higher straight).
