Kojak (Starting Hand KJ)

Kojak is the starting hand Jack King (J K). This is a relatively strong hand, and a hand that many players like to get involved in, especially when the cards are suited. It's also a hand that gets players into a log of trouble as it's dominated by so many other hands.

It shouldn't be played from early position too often as it's likely not going to be the best hand. It's sensible to play it from late position when there's been no real action. Other playable hands that have KJ in big trouble include AK, AQ, AJ, A-10, AA, KK, QQ, QK and JJ. The biggest threat is KK, KQ and JJ as these players have the KJ a long way behind and well disguised when cards hit. An KJ (suited) up against an AK (unsuited) is winning only 29% of the time. When a flop such as 2-5-K hits, it's very difficult not to lose money on the hand as the KJ would look in good shape.

The only way to avoid these spots is to be more selective with your starting hand requirements.
