WSOP 2015 Round Up

Posted:November 2015

The 2015 WSOP drew to a close after the scheduled 67 events had all revealed a champion. The star of the show was undoubtedly Joe Mckeehen who took down the main event title and a cool $7.6 Million. The final table was a bit of a one man show with Joe knocking out 7 of the last 10 players to take down the Championship title. Here are the final standings:

1. Joe Mckeehan - $7,683,346

From Philadelphia, Joe already had 7 WSOP cashes under his belt and had already amassed nearly $4 Million. Joe used his chip advantage throughout the final table and seemed to have a hand every time there was resistence at the table. A real accomplishment to work his way through the field of 6420 players representing 80 different countries.

2. Josh Beckley - $4,470,896

At 24, Josh had 4 other WSOP cashes, all in 2015. He scored 111th in event #12 ($1,500 No Limit Hold'em 6 Handed), 490th in event #16 ($1,500 No Limit Hold'em Millionaire Maker), 87th in event #26 ($ 1,000 Pot Limit Omaha) and 17th in event #36 ($1,500 Pot Limit Omaha). The $19,402 he won was clearly the appetiser to the $4.4 Million he took home in the runners up spot.

3. Neil Blumenfield - $3,398, 298

At 61, Neil would normally have taken the label of the oldest player in the November 9. The previous oldest was Steve Gee at an age of 57 in 2012. The oldest player to make the November 9 this year was actually Pierre Neuville, who finished in 7th, at an age of 72! With a previous best score of $38K, it just goes to show - in poker, you're never too old. Neil took home just over $3.3 Million.

4. Max Steinberg - $2,615,361

Max has some pedigree on the WSOP circuit having previously won a WSOP bracelet in a $1,000 No Limit Hold'em event in 2012, taking down $440,238. He also has 10 previous WSOP cashes as well as coming runner up in the WPT 2012 Legends of Poker event in Los Angeles. This recent win took his live tournament tally to $4, 571, 915.

Ofer is from Israel and was one of three non US players making up the November 9. His previous best score was at the 2015 PCA on Paradise Island where he finished 34th for $44,540. Ofer has landed 6 other WSOP scores including 3rd in a $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event back in 2016 and 18th in event # 19 this year ($9,501). This recent score takes his total live earnings to $2,064, 241.

6. Thomas Cannuli - $1,426, 283

Thomas was the junior of the final 9 at the age of 23. His two previous cashes were in the 2014 main event where he finished 691st for $18,406 and the $1,111 Little One Drop in 2013 where he finished 477th for $1,797. With previous live scores just over $52K, this recent win now takes him close to $1.5 Million.

7. Pierre Neuville - $1,203,293

From Belgium, Pierre was the oldest member of the November 9 at 72. Pierre has seen relative success on the European stage and also has 19 previous WSOP cashes to his name. Pierre has won just over $2.1 Million. This recent win takes his total live earnings to $3,378,447.

8. Frederico Butteroni - $1,097,056

This colourful character from Italy had a WSOP to remember with 3 cashes in total, including his next previous best in - 20th in this year's Monster Stack event where he took down $45,633. This recent score takes his total live earnings to $1,204,598.
