Doyles Room Back Open to US Players
Posted:January 2009Doyles Room was one of the last to close its doors to US players following the passing of the UIGEA. The passing of the legislation saw two of the big guns start the exodus and leave the US market, Party Poker and Pacific Poker (now 888Poker). At the beginning of the year there were significant reductions in money being transferred to Doyles Room and this was followed by software provider Tribeca making the announcement that they were to leave the US market, leaving Doyles Room high and dry. With little choice and following considerable efforts to retain its US player base, Doyles Room withdrew from the US market on March 1st, 2007.
This was a considerable hit for Doyles Room and 10-time WSOP bracelet winner Doyle Brunson was forced to reluctantly sell their US player base to Full Tilt Poker. However in a dramatic turn around, Doyles Room has re-entered the US market and is now available to U.S. players in 39 states. All accounts that were transferred to Full Tilt have now been re-opened at Doylesroom.com and normal service has been resumed.
Players returning will however notice some major changes that have taken place, primarily the new software provider that Doyles Room now uses, namely Microgaming. As such Doyles Room now shares a player base with a host of new sites including European hit poker rooms such as Ladbrokespoker.com.
